Buying a used or new car?

There is a moment in our lives when we want to buy a car, either to get to work faster, or to take that trip. Anyway, whatever your reason, one question is clear: is it better to buy a new car or buy a used car? After all, this question is not only about a choice regarding the car model, but also about the financial impact that will have on your pocket, whether at the time of purchase or later, at the time of maintenance.

First of all, you need to know what kind of car you need. How many seats does it need to have? Must have air conditioning? Electric windows? All these things are always wanted, but some are really necessary, like an alarm and power steering. Decide which items are needed and which are wanted, and that way you can filter the cars to be analyzed, paying attention only to those that meet your expectations.

The best way to buy a car is to start researching prices. You can easily find used and new prices online through car sales websites. Visit some vendor websites and take note of their prices. If possible, assemble a table, comparing prices and advantages of each one.

And when analyzing used cars, remember that every used car always needs maintenance and it is good to take a good look at trying to determine how much you will need to spend on maintenance for it. Then add that value to the price of the car to find out if it’s really worth buying it or if it’s a better idea to look for another one.

Some people are lost or don’t know how to evaluate a car, especially to determine how much maintenance it might need. Well, a first tip is to buy a book on the basics of car mechanics and/or a book on how to evaluate a used car – yes, there are several of them on the market, just look for them! Another very welcome option is to request the services of a mechanic or someone more experienced than you to help you do the vehicle inspection. And don’t be in a hurry when inspecting the vehicle, remember that any “oversight” can later cost you several hundred reais!

And finally, don’t close the deal the moment you see the car. Get the seller’s contact details for both new and used cars. Never act hastily, so that later you don’t find a better option and feel regret. And, once you’ve closed the deal and bought the car, don’t look around for other people’s prices anymore – you might end up finding a cheaper one and feeling regret. Once you’ve bought a car, you can’t go back, so always make sure you’re making the best choice before closing a deal!
